Frequently asked questions
Here are some frequently asked questions about becoming a Coastal Immersions Campus Rep. Find out if you're a good fit and what you can gain from this incredible opportunity to make a difference.
What kind of student is the perfect fit to represent Coastal Immersions?
The ideal Coastal Immersions campus rep is passionate about service, sustainability, and cultural exchange. They’re reliable, motivated, and excited to connect with other students around meaningful, hands-on experiences. Most of all, they believe ethical travel and service-learning can create real impact—and they want to help bring that opportunity to their campus.
Roles of a Campus Representative?
Campus Reps help spread the word about Coastal Immersions by taking 5-10 hours total per semester sharing our mission and experiences with their campus community. This can include tabling at events, speaking in classes or student org meetings, posting on social media, and having one-on-one conversations with students who are interested in service, sustainability, or global learning. Reps also help build interest by collaborating with clubs, departments, and advisors, and by helping organize info sessions or interest meetings throughout the year.
What makes this a fantastic opportunity for a Campus Rep?
Becoming a Coastal Immersions Campus Rep offers hands-on leadership and real-world professional experience with a mission-driven organization. Reps gain skills in outreach, communication, and community-building, earn service hours, practicum credit, and leadership certifications, and connect with like-minded students and mentors. Reps who organize a group of 15+ students over the school year can also earn a fully covered trip to the Dominican Republic with Coastal Immersions—making this an opportunity that’s impactful, rewarding, and unforgettable.
What are the most important points a Campus Rep should highlight?
If a Campus Rep could only share a few things about Coastal Immersions, they should highlight that it’s a values-driven service-learning program focused on ethical travel, sustainability, and community partnership in the Dominican Republic. Coastal Immersions offers hands-on projects—from medical initiatives and reforestation to permaculture and sustainable building—while emphasizing cultural exchange and learning with local communities. Most importantly, it’s an immersive experience that creates real impact and personal growth, not just a trip abroad.
